Corporate history
The first section of today's Bremgarten-Dietikon railway was opened approximately 130 years ago. On 1st September 1876, the Wohlen-Bremgarten West section started operation (on standard gauge tracks). In 1902 this was followed by the opening of the Dietikon-Bremgarten section (narrow gauge). Ten years later the railway bridge over the Reuss had been completed, and thanks to a third track on the standard gauge section, it was possible to connect up both sections to provide a service between Dietikon and Wohlen. Finally, in 1916, the Wohlen-Meisterschwanden railway started operation. It converted to a bus operator in 1997 and was merged with the Bremgarten-Dietikon railway in the year 2000. BDWM Transport AG was thereby created. In 2002, BDWM made a successful bid in response to a VBZ tender offering for the operation of the bus routes in Limmattal, for which the company founded Limmat Bus AG as a 100% subsidiary. Furthermore, from 2006 BDWM together with SBB, will manage the regional bus transportation system in Wiggertal, Aargau.
